Golf rangefinders have become essential tools for improving distance measurement accuracy and shot selection on the golf course. However, for OEMs and product designers, developing high-performance outdoor optical devices requires more than precise electronics and advanced functions. Material selection has become a key challenge in ensuring long-term durability, premium product feel, and reliable performance under changing outdoor conditions.

Golf rangefinders are frequently exposed to sunlight, moisture, dust, and temperature fluctuations, requiring materials that can maintain mechanical performance, appearance, and user comfort throughout their service life. At the same time, manufacturers must consider design flexibility, efficient processing, multi-material compatibility, and surface quality to meet evolving consumer expectations.

For these applications, KRAIBURG TPE, a global manufacturer of advanced TPEs and specialized material solutions, offers the THERMOLAST® K Series with excellent mechanical properties, elasticity, high thermal stability, UV and weather resistance, and reliable adhesion to engineering plastics. The material is suitable for golf rangefinders, other outdoor optical devices, and automotive exterior components.

How Can Materials Ensure Reliable Performance in Outdoor Conditions?
THERMOLAST® K Series provides excellent UV, ozone, and weather resistance. The material maintains performance, appearance, and durability during long-term outdoor exposure and has been tested to recognized automotive weathering standards, including PV 3930 Florida, PV 3929 Kalahari, SAE J1976 Outdoor Weathering, and VW 50123. These tests demonstrate reliable resistance to environmental aging under harsh climatic conditions.

Due to its UV, ozone, and weather resistance, THERMOLAST® K Series is used in automotive exterior components such as roof rim covers, water deflectors, door sills, trunk openers, front triangles, A/B/C/D cappings and covers, rear spoilers, brake lights, and headlights. The material is also suitable for golf rangefinders and other outdoor optical devices that require weather resistance, long service life, and a premium tactile feel.

Durability and flexible design via injection molding
THERMOLAST® K Series is designed for injection molding processes, enabling efficient manufacturing and modern product designs. The material delivers excellent surface mapping, allowing manufacturers to create refined textures and premium surface finishes that enhance product appearance and user comfort. Available in black, it is suitable for outdoor electronic and optical devices that require durability, UV resistance, and visual appeal.

THERMOLAST® K Series also provides strong adhesion to engineering plastics, including PC, ABS, PC/ABS, ASA, SAN, and PMMA, for use in durable multi-component assemblies, ergonomic soft-touch designs, and protective overmolded components commonly used in outdoor applications.
